How to make a Petal Cone Box

Made another petal cone box today using the Love Impressions designer series paper from the Occasions Mini Catalog. The single-sided embossed design paper is nice and heavy and makes a great little box.

Here is how to make the box:

First cut out two pieces of the Petal Cone with the Petal Cone die. Fold each piece in half and line up the fold for the top flap with the 3" mark on your cutter and cut off the bottom of the cone.

Next, flip it over and line up the new cut edge with the 1" mark and score, flip and score the other side to make sure you can see the score lines on both sides of the folded paper. Do this on both pieces.

Fold your new score lines and cut as in the following picture to make the flaps for your box bottom.

You should now have 2 pieces like the one above.

Attach the two pieces together using sticky strip on the side flaps.
Fold in and tape closed the bottom of your box with sticky strip. Fold the top flaps closed as seen in the picture below: (Don't know why it is sideways :))

To make the flower:

Using the Fun Flowers die cut 2 of each of the smaller flowers and one small circle. Crumble up in a ball then uncrumble, repeat if necessary. Layer together and pierce a hole in the center and secure with a brad.
Cut one of the larger flowers with the Fun Flowers die and using a bone folder curl up the edges a bit. Using sticky tape adhere the crumpled flower on the larger flower.

To attach flower to the box top add sticky tape to one of the flaps while you have the box closed and then center the flower on top and press where the sticky tape is to adhere. After setting the flower on top of the sticky tape I carefully open the lid and press it from the back to secure the tape to the flower.

Enjoy making these cute little boxes!

Petal Cone Box

I am really liking the new Petal Cone die that is in the Occasions Mini catalog. I have been thinking of trying to figure out making a box with it and then found one already figured out for me on mychicnscratch.com. She cuts off the tops and has an open box but I left mine on so I could fold it closed and added a flower using the new Fun flowers die also in the Occasions Mini catalog.

I wrapped up some Hershey nuggets in coordinating paper to put inside the box.

Isn't it cute? I love the Soft Suede cardstock with the Elegant Soiree paper that has the Baja Breeze in it. Hope you enjoyed this. Any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks for looking-

Yo-Yo Obsession

Saw a quilt that I just really wanted to make that had Yo-Yo's on it and I wanted to share how great the Big Shot is for quilting projects. So I put my Big Shot to work cutting out all my circles. How wonderful - you can cut 8 layers of fabric at a time. How easy is that?

So far I have a pile of over 150 yo-yo's made! I have also been using a great little tool - Clover's Quick Yo-Yo Maker. Makes the job so much faster and easier and your stitches are perfectly spaced.

Here is what a block will look like. I only have to make 524 of the little yo-yo's and 64 of the larger ones!!!
I will be sure and post a picture of the finished quilt............someday..............when it's done.
Circle dies I used for these yo-yo's:
122125 3" circle
114533 clear circle 3-7/8"

I really like the simple clean lines of this card. The combo of Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, and Baja Breeze card stock works like a charm. Throw in some Springtime Vintage designer series paper and you have the making for a lovely card. Now add an image from the Eat Chocolate stamp set and all is complete!

Hope you enjoyed this card. I need to go have some chocolate now!

Happy New Year!

Thought I had better post something for the New Year! I couldn't think of any great ideas....so this is what I came up with......

I used the new Framed Tulips embossing folder on Confetti White card stock. Stamped the flourish from Style Beautiful in Basic Grey. I spritzed the card with Silver Foil Smooch Spritz. Then I used the only "Happy New Years" stamp that I had from Teeny Tiny Wishes and embossed in silver, punched out with the Word window punch and backed that with Brushed Silver card stock punched out with the Modern Label punch.

OK, I am not thrilled with this card at all so I rip off the sentiment in the center, add some black satin ribbon squiggled accross the card, use the "Life is Beautiful" from the Style Beautiful stamp set, punched out with the Extra Large Oval and some Platinum Shimmer Paint around the edges.......liking this better.

But wait......it needs something else............a little bling! So I added a couple of Rhinestones. Done!

Now it is no longer a "New Years" card but I think the sentiment still works.

Hope that your life this year will be beautiful!
