Chalkboard and Banner Card

This card was inspired by a framed chalkboard with a banner across it on page 11 of the Spring Catalog.
For the "frame" I used the Pool Party Core-dinations card stock embossed with the Framed Tulips folder then lightly sanded the embossed area.

The banner is made using the Hearts a Flutter Bundle (stamps & framlits), Sycamore Street designer series paper, a button from Sycamore Street ribbon & button pack (both Sycamore Street items available FREE through Sale-a-bration), and Pool Party Baker's Twine.

The "oh happy day!" is from the sale-a-bration stamp set Bloomin' Marvelous.

Have a happy day!

Swallowtail

Another card inspired or rather copied from the Spring Catalog, page 19.
I love that there are instructions on how to create this card!
I would never thought to combine the colors Summer Starfruit and Pool Party.
They look great together!
This card uses the Summer Starfruit card stock with Pool Party Stampin' Emboss Powder.

The only thing I did different from the catalog is the sentiment which is from the sale-a-bration stamp set Feeling Setimental.  It is also heat embossed with the Pool Party embossing powder on the Sahara Sand card stock base.

Great tip on stamping with large stamps is to use the new Stampin' Pierce Mat for your stamping surface.  I put a piece of scrap paper on top of the mat then put my card stock on top of that, inked up the stamp and stamped with firm even pressure.  Got a great image every time!

Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint adds just the perfect touch.
Paint it on with an Aqua Painter.

That's the Ticket Birthday Card

This is a card we made in the last class I had where all the cards were inspired by the Spring Catalog.
This card inspiration comes from how a kraft box on page 27 is decorated.

I also used the embossing tip from yesterday's post on this card to get the crossstitch embossing on the card.  I first attached half a Tea Lace Paper Doilie to a strip of Tea for Two dsp and adhered them in place on the Crumb Cake card stock.  Then positioned the Needlepoint Border embossing folder so it was next to the dsp.  Used a paint stir stick just over the center of the embossing folder in place of the top cutting pad.

To help the "stitches" to stand out a bit I lightly sponged Crumb Cake ink over them.

The Vanilla Flower Trim is colored with Pretty in Pink and Calypso Coral Stampin' Write
Markers.

Embossing Folder Tip

Was wanting to add an embossed border on the flap of an envelope with one of the embossing folders from the Needlepoint Border set.  Since these are too wide to go in across they have to go in the long way and then you can't open up your envelope to just emboss the flap and if you run it through with the cutting pad on top (as you would normally) then you get lines where the edges of the folder are.
What to do?
I was thinking of making a cardboard piece to run though that would fit just over the center of the folder covering the embossing but then I looked and there was a paint stir stick on my craft table and it looked just about the right thickness!

It worked perfect.
Who knew.  A cheap (free) new tool!
Will have to stock up on paint stir sticks.

Valentine Basket with Artisan Embellishments Kit

I am so excited to share with you this little Valentine Basket I made using some of the lovely embellishments from the Artisan Embellishments Kit in the Spring Catalog.

I started with a peat pot and painted it with white acrylic paint and a sponge brush.
I wanted an old look so I didn't cover it completely.  As I painted and the paint was still wet I sprinkled on Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  I think you can see a little sparkle in the picture below of the back of the basket.

Isn't that cream lace just beautiful that I wrapped around the basket?
I am going to have to get another kit.  I used half the lace on this one basket but there is only 18" of it in the first place so I have enough to do another basket or use it on a card or two or three!

So many lovely embellishments in this kit!
I love the paper flowers!

I used the Silver Glimmer Paper and the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies to cut out the hearts.  I left the large heart silver and used it for my base - it's almost hidden - and colored the other 2 smaller ones with the Primrose Petals Stampin' Write marker to change them to pink.
The other item I used that is not in the kit is the Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon for the handle and bow and also used some Linen Thread.
I did use a glue gun to attach all the elements to the basket.

Note the little scalloped pink lace at the top of the basket - so sweet!

For some filler I cut strips of First Edition dsp and crumpled them up.
Now I need to get some Valentine goodies to fill my little basket.

What do you think?
Hope you love it as much as I do.
Wouldn't it make a sweet gift or party favor?

Valentine Mantel and Banner

Felt inspired to create a new banner for my mantel to decorate for Valentines day.
Also added some hearts made with the Red Glimmer Paper and Hearts Collection Framelits dies.

I used the Ivory Naturals card stock for the banner pieces which are cut at 4" x 7".
The letters were cut with the Big Shot and the alphabet die Serrif Essentials using Basic Black card stock.

The French Wreath with Bee is what really inspired me to create this banner.
I found it at The Graphics Fairy HERE .

A Sale-A-Bration Card

Sale-a-bration starts on January 22 and I have been playing with some of the fun free products to choose from.

This card uses the Sale-a-bration stamp sets Vintage Verse and Bloomin' Marvelous.
The embossing folder is also in Sale-a-bration and is called Vine Street.
Sponged the embossed vines with Crumb Cake ink.

The butterfly from the Bloomin' Marvelous stamp set works perfectly with the Bitty Butterfly punch that is in the Spring Catalog.  I stamped them with Calypso Coral.

I stamped the "Just because" with Early Espresso ink on the Natural 7/8" Cotton Ribbon.

On the Vanilla Flower Trim I colored the edges with the Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Marker.

Thanks So Much...Still Inspired by Fabric

Okay, I am still on this color combination of Riding Hood Red, Basic Gray and Ivory Naturals!

Using the stamp set Oh, Hello again on this card.  I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the stamps in Riding Hood Red and Basic Gray.  I also got out my sewing machine and did some stitching on this one.

For the flower I just wanted a little color on it so used the marker to add color just on the edges.

It's a good day to be stamping.
Here is what it looks like outside today:

Oh, Hello...Inspired by Fabric

I bought this lovely stack of French General fabrics a while back and still don't have a plan for them but they did inspire the color combination for the following card.

I translated the colors into Stampin' Up! colors and there is what I came up with:
Basic Grey
Riding Hood Red
Naturals Ivory
Crumb Cake

I am loving this color combo!

This card features several new products from the Spring Catalog:
Honeycomb embossing folder
Oh, Hello stamp set
Ovals Collection framelits dies
Vanilla Flower Trim
Basic Grey/Basic Black Two-Tone Ribbon

To color the flower I placed it face down onto the Riding Hood Red ink pad and lightly pressed it into the ink.  The bottom is still a little vanilla colored giving it a lovely two-toned look.
The stem is stamped with the color Always Artichoke.

Chalkboard Art Cards

I have been seeing some faux chalkboard art cards and gave it a try.
To keep it simple I picked a stamp set, From My Heart, that would easily work for the look.

To create the look stamp your image with Whisper White Craft ink on Basic Black card stock and heat emboss with White embossing powder.

To add the look of erased chalk use a stamping sponge and dab on the White craft ink pad and rub on the black card stock.
Use a white watercolor pencil to draw a border or even add more doodles.

I added a "wooden" frame to my chalkboard using Soft Suede card stock stamped with the Woodgrain background stamp and Chocolate chip classic ink.  Then sponged Soft Suede ink on the frame pieces.

On this "chalkboard" I added pink highlights with a pink watercolor pencil.

Will have to give this some more work and try some other things but happy with how these turned out overall.  I think they look better in person than a photo.
