Queen for a Day Birthday Card & "Cake"

I just love how this card and matching tea light "cake" turned out!

Wouldn't it be cute to put the "cake" on top of a cupcake?

The card features the stamp sets You Rule and Summer Silhouettes, one of the Delicate Designs embossing folders, Vanilla Flower Trim, Primrose Petals Core'dinations Card Stock, Primrose Petals ink, Very Vanilla card stock, Silver Glimmer Paper, Victoria Crochet Trim, Silver embossing powder, Color Spritzer Tool, and Silver Stampin' Dazzle Marker.

To make the "cake" you need a battery operated little tea light. Adhere Vanilla Flower Trim with Sticky Strip (I used 7 flowers around and 5 on the top).  For the "platter" I used Silver Glimmer Paper with Perfect Pennants Bigz die to cut out one of the doily shapes on the die.  Punch a hole where the tea light switch is and then adhere with Sticky Strip.

Tried to get a good photo of the "cake" with the light on but it just looks like it's on fire - thought I would share it anyway.  So, just trust me that it's much cuter in person!

Dress Up with a Coffee Filter Skirt

I have made some "skirts" with the Pop-Up Posies designer kit using both the paper flowers and the little cupcake-like papers on the dress from the Dress Up framelits.
Have run out of most of those pieces so decided to try punching out flowers from a coffee filter and they worked great!

I used the Blossom punch.  You just need 6 flowers so 3 punches on the coffee filter did it.
I folded the flowers in half - a little off kilter - and scrunched them up a bit.
Adhered to the dress with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I used a glue gun on the ones I had previously made but didn't have it out and heated up so decided to try the Multipurpose glue and that worked great - just remember that a little goes a long way.

Chalkboard Feel Goods

I am just loving all the chalkboard art and faking the look with paper and White Craft ink is so simple.
Stamp image with VersaMark ink on Basic Black card stock and heat emboss with White Stampin' Emboss powder.  Sponge on Whisper White Craft ink over the image and around edges for the look of erased chalk.

This card features the stamp set Feel Goods.

It is such a bright and happy card!

The polka dot paper is from the Polka Dot Parade designer series paper.
The little butterfly is from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits.

Still Playing With the Bandanna Technique

In my post yesterday I shared a card that I made using the Bandanna Technique and a link to where I found it.  Wanted to create something to coordinate with the card so used the Candy Wrapper die to make a cute treat holder.

But first I had to create my paper.  I used Real Red card stock, Black Stazon ink, uni-ball Signo Gel Pen, and two stamps from the Creative Elements stamp set.

Wow!  Doesn't adding that white doodling with the gel pen add so much?

The "happy birthday to you" stamp is from the Best of Birthdays stamp set.

Here is the candy wrapper treat with the card I made yesterday.  If you look closely you will notice that I went back over the bandanna paper and added more "stitching" than I had when I first posted the card.  I like it better now.

Bandanna Technique Card

I saw this fun technique HERE by Patsy Waggoner today and found some time to try it out.

Stamps used are Creative Elements, Everything Eleanor, and Word Play.

The star of the bandanna techinque is the uni-ball Signo Gel Pen.  I find that if I put the pen in my pant pocket before I am ready to use it it warms it up and I have no problems with the ink coming out well.

After watching the video again (see link above) I didn't do the "stitching"  on the vines like she did.  Will have to give that a try on the next one I do.

I stamped "wish big" with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder.

Scallop Envelope Party Favor Tutorial

Here is a picture tutorial of how I made a party favor using the Scallop Envelope die and the Big Shot machine.

I drew a line on my die with a white gel pen 1/2" from the bottom fold.

I cut 2 pieces of card stock 4-1/4 x 4" and placed on the die lining up the edge of the paper with the line I drew.  This keeps me from cutting out the whole image and then triming off some, saves a little paper!

Cut out 2, one at a time.  The layer I used was: cutting plate, shim (I used a piece of scrap card stock), Scallop Envelope die, Crumb Cake card stock, Standard Premium Crease Pad.

Stamp the front and back.

Apply sticky strip to the back flaps of the front piece.
I like to line up the bottoms first and adhere then do the sides.

Stamp sets used are:
Remember This and That Rotary Stamp
Sent with Love
A Round Array
Artistic Etchings
French Foliage

Personalized Stamp and a Cup of Tea

I finally took advantage of the Text-Only stamps that Stampin' Up! offers and found a quote I liked that worked with the limits of 1-4 lines - up to 32 characters.
This one is the Tailored Four-Line.

The stamp reads:
We drank tea again yesterday...
I find all these little parties
very pleasant.
-Jane Austen

For this card I have paired up the personalized stamp with the Tea Shoppe stamp set and the Tea for Two designer series paper and a Tea Lace Paper Doily.

To create the pocket for a tea bag I used the large scallop oval framelit from the Ovals Collection Framelits dies.  I cut a piece of Tea for Two dsp 7-1/2" x 4-1/4", scored at 2-1/4" to create the pocket area.  Folded the pocket and then centered the framlit over the paper leaving a bit of the fold at the bottom uncut, then ran through the Big Shot.  I added some Stampin' Dimensionals on the scalloped edges of the pocket to hold it closed yet give some room to insert a tea bag.

Stamped the tea cup in Lucky Limeade on Very Vanilla card stock and cut out.

In the upcoming 2013-2014 Catalog Stampin' Up! will be adding some new colors to their color collections (some are returning In-Colors) and discontinuing some current colors.

Beginning on April 4, 2013, all retiring/discontinued color products (i.e. ink, paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) will be available only while supplies last.

It's always sad to say goodbye so some old favorites but it will also be fun having new colors to play with!

I loved Bermuda Bay - so happy to see that return.
Can't wait to see the new Smoky Slate!
